Keeping Children Safe in Education

This document is statutory guidance from the The Department for Education (DfE) and is regularly updated.

It sets out the legal duties you must follow to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people under the age of 18 in schools and colleges.

Keeping Children Safe in Education is organised into 5 parts:

  1. Safeguarding information for all staff (All staff in schools must read and understand this part)
  2. The management of safeguarding
  3. Safer recruitment
  4. Allegations of abuse made against teachers and other staff
  5. Child-on-child sexual violence and sexual harassment
