Mother Mary
Mary's Procession and garden
At St. Mary's School, every May, we joyfully celebrate the month of Mary with a beautiful Mary Procession. This cherished tradition includes children and staff coming together to honour the Blessed Virgin. During the procession, we sing hymns, pray the Rosary, and place flowers at the statue of Mary. Additionally, we lovingly decorate our Mary garden, creating a serene and colourful tribute to Our Lady, reflecting our deep devotion and gratitude for her guidance and grace.
Mrs Peters very kindly donated her statue of Mary to our school. The children and adults were all very excited to meet her and carry out our procession with Mrs Peters. Class by class, children processed to the Mary's garden, singing as they carried their flowers and banners.
Child L - I liked the procession because we got to sing hymns and listen to other classes read their prayers and got to put flowers next to the statue of Mary and we got to see the lady who donated the statue of Mary to us, hopefully we made her proud. Child R - I liked lining up and walking to the Mary garden whilst singing our hymns then laying down the flowers Child K - I liked laying the flowers at the Mary statues feet. She had a small flower hat it looked like a halo she looked beautiful.

Every class participated by bringing in beautiful flowers and creating unique pieces of artwork dedicated to Mary. During our assembly, each group presented their heartfelt creations, filling the room with inspiration and warmth. The children's voices rang out as they sang hymns dedicated to Mary, creating a genuine sense of unity—what splendid singing it was! πΆ
As the festivities continued, we embarked on a delightful walk to Mary's garden, led by the talented Miss Howard strumming her ukulele. The children joyfully sang "Ave Maria," creating an atmosphere filled with love and reverence. Along the way, our little ones laid down their flowers and artworks in honour of Mary.
It was an incredible afternoon, filled with creativity, devotion, and cherished memories. Thank you to everyone who participated in this wonderful celebration. Together, we truly made magic! π
