Welcome

Hello and a very warm welcome to St Mary’s Brook Green Primary School.

Our one-form entry school is a very happy, supportive and welcoming environment, where children are at the very centre of all that we do.  We aim to provide a balanced and creative education in a stimulating and safe environment where all children, regardless of their starting point, can maximise their talents and abilities. We encourage them to develop pride in their achievements and feel happy, confident and secure as part of a friendly, inclusive and caring community.

Our mission ‘Growing in God’s love and care’ ensures that we learn together, valuing the uniqueness of each individual. We are a thriving Catholic school in the heart of Brook Green, open to all faiths and none.

I proudly took the position of Head of School in September 2023. I'm delighted to lead the school, along with our committed staff and governors, as we work together to succeed in our dynamic and thriving primary school.

If you are new to St Mary’s or thinking of joining our school, I look forward to welcoming you. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit. Alternatively, please explore our website for further information about us, whether you are an existing or prospective parent or carer.

Yours Faithfully,

Miss Lucy Black                                                                                         Head of School

It is a privilege to be working with the wonderful team of teachers and support staff at St. Mary’s Brook Green. St. Mary’s is a school close to my heart. Having studied my undergraduate degree, teaching degree and Masters at St. Mary’s University College in Twickenham. I owe much to this university. St Mary’s College was established in 1850 by the Catholic Poor Committee, originally set up as a teacher training school on Brook Green, under the charge of the Brothers of Christian Instruction.

In 1925 the teacher training aspect of the school transferred to Strawberry Hill in Twickenham, following which St Mary’s primary school was born.

When approached to support the wonderful team at St. Mary’s, I couldn’t help but think that the Holy Spirit had a plan bringing me back to my educational roots.
St Mary’s is a truly special school, offering an excellent education to Catholic children, and children of all faiths and none,  living Christ’s call in the Gospel of Mark 16: 15-20,  “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Yours Faithfully,
