Year 5
Over this academic year, Year 5 will be working their way through a balanced curriculum of core and foundation subjects. Throughout the year, they will also be enjoying specialist teaching of Music, Physical Education, Drama, Dance, Spanish, Cricket, Drumming, Tennis and Swimming.
In year 5, children should learn a range of English language and literature skills, such as:
•reading and spelling KS2 common exception words
•reading and spelling words with suffixes such as: ly, ous, ation
•writing using modal verbs to show possibility
• writing complex sentences using subordinations and conjunctions
•writing using relative clauses
•writing using the expanded noun phrases
•always including capital letters where appropriate, and their punctuation!
