RE Chaplains

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, faith is at the heart of all we do. To strengthen pupils’ spiritual development and empower them as leaders of our Catholic mission, we have established a team of RE Chaplains, with one representative selected from each class in Years 3 to 6.

Our RE Chaplains are pupils who demonstrate compassion, reverence, and a genuine desire to serve others. They act as role models of our school values, helping to nurture a prayerful, inclusive, and reflective community. Each Chaplain has been chosen for their ability to lead by example and to support their peers in deepening their relationship with God.

The RE Chaplains take on a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of class and whole-school liturgies.
  • Leading prayers, Gospel reflections, and charitable initiatives.
  • Assisting with the preparation of sacred spaces and maintaining the prayer areas around the school.
  • Representing pupil voice in matters of faith and spiritual life.
  • Promoting Catholic Social Teaching through acts of service and community outreach.

This initiative provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to develop confidence, leadership, and a deeper understanding of their faith. The presence of our RE Chaplains enriches the spiritual life of the school and helps ensure that St Mary’s remains a place where Christ is truly at the centre of daily life.
