PE and Sport Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is funding provided to primary schools to support improvements to the quality of PE, physical activity and sport available to pupils.

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, we are committed to using this funding effectively to provide high-quality, inclusive opportunities that encourage all pupils to be active, develop their physical skills and enjoy sport.

PE and Sport Premium 2025–2026

For the 2025–26 academic year, St Mary’s received £17,320 in PE and Sport Premium funding. The full allocation was spent during the academic year.

Funding was used to support a range of provision, including extra-curricular sporting opportunities, equipment and resources, external coaching, membership of school sport networks and participation in external competitions.
We also targeted funding to improve opportunities for pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and girls, helping to ensure that our PE and sporting provision is inclusive and accessible to all.

Swimming and Water Safety

By the end of Year 6:

  • 82% of pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.

  • 71% could use a range of strokes effectively.

  • 82% could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
