The curriculum is organised through six knowledge lenses, which identify what pupils should know and understand.

Four lenses relate particularly to the study of Catholicism:

Hear – encountering and understanding Scripture and the Word of God.

Believe – developing knowledge of Catholic beliefs, teachings and doctrine.

Celebrate – understanding how Catholics celebrate their faith through prayer, liturgy and the Sacraments.

Live – understanding how Catholic faith shapes the way Christians are called to live.

Two further lenses support pupils' understanding of religions and worldviews:

Dialogue – understanding the relationship between Catholicism and other Christian traditions and religions.

Encounter – learning about and respectfully engaging with different religions and worldviews.
