Lenten Appeal – Supporting the Catholic Children’s Society 💜✝️

Each year during Lent, our St Mary’s community comes together to support the Catholic Children’s Society (CCS) Lenten Appeal, raising vital funds to help vulnerable children and families experiencing hardship.

Lent is a special time for prayer, fasting and almsgiving, and our annual appeal provides a meaningful opportunity for our pupils to put their faith into action. Through fundraising activities and acts of generosity, our children learn the importance of compassion, selflessness and reaching out to those most in need.

Our participation in the appeal reflects our commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, particularly the principles of human dignity, solidarity and the preferential option for the poor. Children are encouraged to recognise that not everyone has the same opportunities and that, as followers of Christ, we have a responsibility to care for and support one another.

Through this longstanding tradition, our pupils develop a deeper understanding of the true meaning of Lent, recognising that even the smallest acts of kindness and generosity can transform the lives of others.

At St Mary’s, our Lenten Appeal is a wonderful example of our school values of faith, love, service and community in action, demonstrating our commitment to living out the Gospel message and following Jesus’ example of love and compassion.
