Wider Curriculum Offer

At St. Mary’s, we believe that learning should extend beyond the classroom. We are thrilled to offer a rich and diverse curriculum that includes a plethora of enriching opportunities both during school hours and in our engaging after-school programmes.

From hands-on workshops, performances and trips to collaborations with local accredited private schools, our children are immersed in experiences that foster growth, creativity, and a love for learning.

Class Act: This year we will be working with the Class Act Initiative, which is a programme designed to make arts and music accessible to all pupils. The Class Act Initiative aims to provide rewarding and invaluable experiences in performing arts. Through this initiative, our pupils will have the opportunity to partake in the joy and creativity that performing arts can offer.

Into University: Into University centres offer a welcoming home-from-home for our Y6 pupils: a safe space to learn, explore and succeed. Each centre offers an innovative programme that supports them to realise their ambitions, achieve their academic potential, develop vital skills and gain experience of the world of work.

Girls Fulham FC Foundation Cup: We are thrilled to announce that our Year 5 girls will be taking part in the Fulham FC Foundation Cup! This is an amazing opportunity for our talented young athletes to showcase their skills and passion for football while competing against other fantastic schools.

Aladdin at The Lyric: Year 6 were invited for a sneak peek at one of Lyrics final in-room rehearsal runs for Aladdin. After the curtain fell, they eagerly shared their thoughts, brimming with excitement about their favourite moments and characters.

Primary Stars Education: We have partnered with Primary Stars, who have generously provided a funded fantastic weekly coordinator, who closely closely engages with our school councils on a range of exciting initiatives throughout the year, including:

Black History Month: Celebrating our rich and diverse history.

Anti-Bullying Week: Promoting kindness and understanding amongst our school.

World Book Day: Inspiring a love for reading and exploration.

Earth Day: Encouraging eco-friendly practices and awareness.

This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to empower our children and create a more inclusive and supportive school environment.

Bridge Programme: The Godolphin and Latymer School, a private school in Hammersmith has offered a special academic enrichment programme for two Year 5 students. The goal is to give these pupils a taste of what secondary school teaching and learning would be like, and to inspire and enthuse them in the subjects. Below are the key details of the programme:

  • 12 Saturday sessions spread throughout the year (January to December), led by experienced teachers. Each session consisting of Maths, English, and other lessons or activities on rotation, such as History, Geography, Music or debating.
  • 2 weeks of free tuition, one week in August and another during the Autumn half-term, delivered by a local tutoring firm.
  • Bespoke parental guidance and advice for applying to independent schools, if that’s something they’re considering.
  • Free access to Atom Learning, an online platform to support their learning.
  • An iPad to use during the sessions, which they will be able to keep at the end of the programme.

St Paul’s Girls School: We have formed a partnership with St Paul’s School, an outstanding local private school recognised for its commitment to excellence in education. As part of this collaboration, St Paul’s has graciously agreed to provide selected children from our school with a range of enriching extracurricular opportunities. These activities have been thoughtfully designed to broaden our children’s horizons and foster diverse skills.

One of the key offerings is a weekly chess club, where our children will not only learn the fundamentals of the game but also develop critical thinking and strategic skills through engaging sessions. This initiative aligns with our commitment to promoting intellectual growth and problem-solving abilities among our young learners.

Additionally, children have been enrolled in a Modern Foreign Languages club that will run weekly. Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn three languages: German, French, and Spanish. This is an invaluable addition to our curriculum, supporting language acquisition and cultural awareness, which are essential skills in our increasingly global society.

Furthermore, St Paul’s have also offered our children with a Primary Hub club. This initiative allows some of the teachers and senior pupils from St Paul’s to provide support to our children with their weekly homework. This collaborative approach not only alleviates academic pressures but also fosters a sense of community and mentorship.

The Upper Room: The Upper Room is a charity supporting West London's homeless and vulnerable people by providing hot meals, clothing and bedding. Mike from the Upper Room Charity was incredibly impressed with St Marys’ generous donations and collected all of these.

Christmas Carol Concert: Years 3 to 6 performed a Christmas Carol Concert at Holy Trinity. This event was an extraordinary celebration of the festive season, showcasing the talents and hard work of our children. The concert featured a splendid array of traditional carols that not only highlight our students' musical abilities but also embody the spirit of Christmas.

Tower of London: Year 2 went on an educational trip to the Tower of London. This excursion links with their history topic that they have been engaging with throughout this autumn term. The trip enhanced their understanding of the rich history of this iconic landmark and its significance within the context of British heritage. Y2 enjoyed experiencing history first-hand at the Tower of London which greatly enriched their learning experience.

Kensington Palace: Year 1 visited Kensington Palace to consolidate their history learning focused on kings and queens. This trip provided them with a valuable opportunity to engage more deeply with the subject matter. Visiting such a significant historical site enriched the children's understanding and appreciation of our royal heritage.
